PANORAMIC Radiology AND teeth x-rays IN FLORENCE

At Doctor Serena Baldi's Dental Practice, we carry out an scan of the upper and lower teeth (OPG X-ray). This is a piece of diagnostic test equipment that can provide a 2D image of the teeth, roots, mandibular and maxillary bones. We can also evaluate the temporomandibular joints with this kind of examination, i.e. the joint where the mandible meets the temporal bone which allows for the opening and closing movements of the mouth.

It can be used to reveal any cavities, periodontal disease of gum tissues, damage to the internal tissues of the tooth (endodontic lesions, such as apical granulomas), or lesions affecting the jaw bones, such as cysts or new formations, and to diagnose any dental treatments.

It can also shows if any teeth are embedded in the bone (frequently wisdom teeth or canines), but also supernumerary teeth or agenesis (i.e. missing teeth), diseases affecting the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinuses (mucocele, sinusitis).

It is a simple and quick exam and does not require any specific preparation.

Using new digital technologies, radiation exposure is extremely reduced, which means that OPG X-rays can be carried out on children as well as adolescents.
