HIGH PRECISION spectrophotometer

A very high-level precision spectrophotometer is used to measure and describe the natural or artificial colour of the tooth, under any light, which not only helps produce perfect reconstructions but also the most natural colour choice for prosthesis on implants and natural teeth. It measures the entire spectrum of visible light at different times. The colours are transported through special optical paths, in order to make the light converge symmetrically in the area of interest.

This system is so sophisticated that it measures spectrophotometric data and shows perfect colour images, as well as analysing over 2,000,000 reference points acquired with each image, it works like a real computer.

Once the image of a tooth has been taken, it is then displayed on the spectrophotometer's high definition liquid crystal screen. In addition, the touch screen display provides all the patient's information, and also contains a microphone for recording the voice messages that will be linked to the image. SpectroShade Micro provides a general shade assessment, a third-party assessment, a detailed mapping of dentins on the tooth surface and analyses their translucency. It also provides precise information on dentins and enamels for the use of composite materials (in clinic and in the laboratory). It can also compare two measurements. It is particularly useful for assessing the tooth colour before and after whitening, or for checking that the crown is a true copy of the original tooth.

Why is it so important?

Colour distribution is not uniform, even if we consider one third at a time. A circular reading over a small area gives an average colour value for that area. If, on the other hand, we analyse the same area with a professional level of detail, we can easily see that the average value is not enough to describe the actual specifications. SpectroShade is able to map any unevenness in colour and surface characteristics of the tooth. This is essential information when making tooth repairs that look good and have a natural appearance.
